ASP AGENTS PARTICIPATE IN NATIONAL OPERATION TO IDENTIFY CHILD VICTIMS OF SEXUAL EXPLOITATION

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Arkansas State Police Sgt. Corwin Battle, Commander of the Arkansas Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, and Criminal Investigation Division Special Agent Roy Moomey recently participated in a week-long Victim Identification Operation hosted by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

The operation brought together 40 victim identification specialists representing local, state, federal and international law enforcement agencies. Participants included investigators from across the United States, INTERPOL, the Australian Federal Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency.

Throughout the week, specialists reviewed more than 400 series of child sexual abuse material, working together to uncover information that could help identify the children depicted. Their efforts resulted in 182 referrals to law enforcement, including 83 domestic and 99 international referrals.

“Bringing investigators and forensic examiners together allows us to share expertise, connect information across jurisdictions, and develop leads that may help identify a child,” Sgt. Battle said. “The Arkansas State Police is committed to working alongside our partners to move these investigations forward and help bring victims closer to safety.”

Participants also reviewed more than 570 additional series that may contain new content connected to previously submitted CyberTipline reports. Those reviews helped determine whether the children depicted had already been identified or whether further victim identification efforts were needed.
